The FireKracker 5K Citizen's Race went virtual for 2020, with the Elite Race being held at the Foothills Mall in a time-trial format. Watch the video for the latter here!
Celebrate the Fourth of July by running a virtual 5k! Run on your own or with your family anytime from July 1-7 and submit results by July 10th. You can create your own course or run/walk the traditional course from City Park in Fort Collins.
Make sure to time and measure your race in order to submit results after your event.
Registration includes:

Overall and age group awards for those who record and post results via Strava

Elite Race Qualifying Times
Qualifying times must come from races with a certified course run within the last 12-18 months to be considered for the elite race (5k distance or equivalent performance at a different distance).
*Please note - Having a time that meets the qualifying standards does not ensure entry to the elite race as only a very limited field is being accepted for the elite race due to the COVID-19 restrictions.
Males - 15 minutes or faster
Females - 18:30 minutes or faster
Citizen's race
Must submit Strava link to be eligible to win overall or age group awards. Elapsed time (not moving time) will be considered your official finish time. Distance must be 5.0 kilometers or 3.1 miles.

Brandon Rojas matched the FireKracker 5k course record set last year by Scott Dahlberg with a time of 14:43. Nell Rohas was the first woman, finishing in 17:20.

For the very first time, there were two events in the FireKracker 5k: a citizen's race and an elite race. CSU assistant track and cross country coach Scott Dahlberg won the men’s elite race and Susan Partridge of Scotland won the women’s elite race.

There were 1,126 finishers of the 2013 edition of the FireKracker 5k.
The following are statistics on how much waste was generated at the 2013 race. As you can see, we diverted an astounding 98% from the landfill. Kudos to Green Eventswhom we had organize the race this yearfor achieving such a diversion rate.

Thanks to everyone who came out for the 2012 Firekracker 5k on Independence Day. There were over 1,000 participants. Through their entry fees, the race raised $1000 to High Park Fire relief efforts; another $1,000 to the City of Fort Collins’ Colorado Association of Recreational Athletics track and field program; and $500 to the Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department.

2011RESULTS
Japheth Ng’ojoy was the overall winner of the 2011 FireKracker 5k in a time of 15:24. Nicole Feest was the first overall female in a record 17:06. Nicole won an extra $50 for setting a course record for women. Congratulations to all our winners and finishers and a big thank you from the Fort Collins Running Club to everyone for coming out and running.
