Brandon Rojas matched the FireKracker 5k course record set last year by Scott Dahlberg with a time of 14:43. Nell Rohas was the first woman, finishing in 17:20.

For the very first time, there were two events in the FireKracker 5k: a citizen's race and an elite race. CSU assistant track and cross country coach Scott Dahlberg won the men’s elite race and Susan Partridge of Scotland won the women’s elite race.

There were 1,126 finishers of the 2013 edition of the FireKracker 5k.
The following are statistics on how much waste was generated at the 2013 race. As you can see, we diverted an astounding 98% from the landfill. Kudos to Green Eventswhom we had organize the race this yearfor achieving such a diversion rate.

Thanks to everyone who came out for the 2012 Firekracker 5k on Independence Day. There were over 1,000 participants. Through their entry fees, the race raised $1000 to High Park Fire relief efforts; another $1,000 to the City of Fort Collins’ Colorado Association of Recreational Athletics track and field program; and $500 to the Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department.

Japheth Ng’ojoy was the overall winner of the 2011 FireKracker 5k in a time of 15:24. Nicole Feest was the first overall female in a record 17:06. Nicole won an extra $50 for setting a course record for women. Congratulations to all our winners and finishers and a big thank you from the Fort Collins Running Club to everyone for coming out and running.

The start line for all races is in Fort Collins' City Park, near the intersection of Sheldon Drive and City Park Drive.
Please note: The streets within City Park are closed on July 2nd!
NO Parking at Golf Course.
There is no parking available within City Park. Please don’t drive around barricades or park on any of the following streets: Sheldon Drive, City Park Drive, Jackson Ave, Scott Ave, Oak Street, Mulberry Street. Your car will be towed.
You can not drive into the park to pickup your packet or drop someone off. All streets into the park are closed at 5am on July 2nd.
Parking is available in surrounding neighborhoods (except on streets noted above that are closed). Please plan an extra 15 minutes to park and walk into City Park.
Bikes are highly recommended and encouraged!
The park will have plenty of bike racks available.
